Plan Eligibility Explained
Quick answer: FSA and HSA are accounts some people use to pay for eligible purchases with pre tax dollars. Eligibility depends on your plan. Check with your plan administrator.
What FSA and HSA mean
- FSA (Flexible Spending Account): An account offered through an employer. Plans set their own deadlines for using the funds.
- HSA (Health Savings Account): An account tied to a qualifying high deductible health plan. Balances roll over from year to year.
What eligible means
A product is called eligible when a plan allows its funds to be used for that purchase. Each plan decides what it accepts, and plan rules can change from year to year. AWA does not decide this for your plan, so we cannot promise that any specific purchase will be accepted.
Before you buy
- Ask your plan administrator whether the item you want is accepted under your plan.
- Ask what paperwork the plan wants to see, if any, and who is allowed to provide it.
- Keep your itemized receipt and order confirmation.
- Check your plan deadline for submitting claims.
Taxes
Tax rules depend on your own situation. AWA cannot give tax advice. A qualified tax professional can answer questions about your return.
