Gym operators often ask whether red light therapy is worth adding as an amenity. Here is an overview of how it can fit into a gym.
The amenity layer. Many gyms now offer wellness amenities such as sauna, cold plunge, compression boots, and red light therapy.
Session formats. Gyms commonly offer red light therapy in three formats:
- Per-session: Drop-in access for non-members and as an add-on for members. Easy to start with, no contract.
- Membership add-on: Unlimited access tied to a tier upgrade.
- Package pricing: Bundles of sessions that encourage regular use.
Why gyms add it. Sessions are short, typically around 15 minutes, so members can fit one into a workout.
Layout and electrical. A two-station room needs roughly 120 square feet plus a small lounge bench. Standard 120V or 240V electrical, depending on equipment. HVAC is no different from any other gym room. Most operators slot it into an under-utilized PT studio or convert an old tanning room.
The launch playbook. Most operators rolling out red light therapy follow a similar plan: announce it on social and email ahead of launch, offer free trial sessions during launch week, and promote the membership add-on during the first 90 days.
Financing. Financing referrals are available for larger orders. Contact our team for details.
